Ten SunWater dams at full supply
SunWater has confirmed that Burdekin Falls Dam (Charters Towers), Julius Dam (Mt Isa), Fairbairn Dam (Emerald), Teemburra Dam (Mackay), Cania Dam (Monto), Boondooma Dam, Bjelke-Petersen Dam, Fred Haigh Dam, Paradise Dam (Bundaberg/Burnett) and Beardmore Dam (St George) have reached 100 percent capacity.

Termination of amnesty for unlicensed water supply works
Owners of certain works constructed before 1 January 1999 have been able to apply for a water supply work approval and an access licence to enable these works to become licensed and recognised under the Water Management Act 2000 (NSW) licensing regime. This amnesty will end on 31 December 2011.

Seasonal allocations increase in the Murray and Broken systems
Goulburn-Murray Water has updated the seasonal allocations for 2011/12. The Murray system seasonal allocation is 95 per cent of high-reliability water shares (HRWS), an increase of nine per cent HRWS. The seasonal allocation in the Broken system is 100 per cent HRWS and 20 per cent of low-reliability water shares (LRWS), an increase of 10 per cent LRWS. Seasonal allocations in all other systems are unchanged.

Hawkesbury-Nepean metering project – benefits both river health and on farm water efficiency
New water metering systems rolled out across the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment as part of the $28.6 million Improving Hawkesbury-Nepean Water Balance Accounting Project, will provide benefits for river health and water use efficiency.
NSW Water Commissioner David Harriss, said the project is an important initiative for licensed water users in the region to help secure the long-term sustainability and health of this iconic waterway.
"The recently completed project was implemented by the NSW Office of Water and involved the installation or upgrade of water meters, data loggers and telecommunication devices to surface water extraction equipment for approximately 2,000 water licensed water users across the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment," said Mr Harriss.

Allocations continue to improve flows in the Murrumbidgee Valley
NSW Water Commissioner David Harriss announced an increase of 5 percent for NSW Murray general security licence holders and an increase of 2 percent for general security licence holders in the Murrumbidgee Valley.
The announcement brings the general security allocation in the NSW Murray to 26 percent of entitlement which, together with carry-over, means that Murray Valley general security users have, on-average, access to 94 percent of entitlement.

The Murray system seasonal allocation is 86% of high-reliability water shares (HRWS), an improvement of 15% HRWS. Seasonal allocations in all other systems are unchanged.

NSW Water Commissioner, David Harriss, announced that the formal rules for the trade of water entitlements and allocations for the Barwon-Darling Unregulated River are now in place.

Small Improvement in General Security Allocations in the Southern Basin
NSW Water Commissioner David Harriss announced an increase of 3 per cent for NSW Murray general security licence holders and an increase of 4 per cent for general security licence holders in the Murrumbidgee Valley.
The announcement brings the general security allocation in the NSW Murray Valley to 21 per cent of entitlement.
This, together with carry-over, means that Murray Valley general security users have, on-average, access to 89 percent of entitlement.
"In the Murrumbidgee Valley, the general security allocation has increased by 4 per cent to 63 percent of entitlement, which, when combined with carry-over gives an average access of 90 per cent of entitlement."
A more detailed assessment will be made mid month and will be announced on 17 October.

Seasonal Allocations Increase
The Resource Manager for northern Victorian regulated water systems today updated the seasonal allocations for 2011/12.
The Goulburn and Loddon systems have seasonal allocations of 100% of high-reliability water shares (HRWS) after an improvement of 5% HRWS. An increase of 2% HRWS took the seasonal allocation in the Murray system to 71% HRWS.
The Broken system seasonal allocation increased from 39% HRWS to 100% HRWS and 10% of low-reliability water shares (LRWS). The Campaspe system received an allocation improvement of 9% LRWS to reach the maximum possible allocation of 100% HRWS and 100% LRWS.
The Bullarook system seasonal allocation is unchanged at 100% HRWS and 100% LRWS.

Murrumbidgee Irrigation has provided a 5% enhancement to general security customers
Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) has provided a 5% enhancement to General Security customers which can either be used or traded. The enhancement has been made possible through company water savings to provide benefits to customers. The enhancement is separate to Available Water Determination (AWD) announcements made by NSW Office of Water and are not subject to the same limits and spill rules as AWD.

New Murray-Darling Water purchase rounds in the northern basin
Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities Tony Burke announced three new water purchasing tenders in the northern Murray Darling Basin.
Two tenders for water purchases in the Queensland Lower Balonne will open on September 26 and 14 November 2011, respectively. Each of these tenders will make available up to $60 million. A separate water purchase tender will open in the Namoi and Border Rivers on October 17 with up to $30 million available.

Water releases from Lake Eildon mark first spill for carryover

National Water Commissioner Laurie Arthur has released a new report Strengthening Australia's water markets and called on governments to continue to work on opening up access to trading and improving market performance. The report suggests that improved transparency and information are needed to reduce complexity and speed up trade approvals.

Australia's water market moving from strength to strength
The National Water Commission today released the Australian Water Markets Report 2009-10, which shows that Australia's water market has continued to grow despite the welcome easing of drought conditions in much of eastern Australia.
